CHARLOTTE ETHINGTON, OBOE INSTRUCTOR
Charlotte began her oboe studies at age 11 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In 2015 she completed a BM in Oboe Performance at Brigham Young University, where she studied with Geralyn Giovannetti. In 2017 she completed a MM in Oboe Performance at Arizona State University under the tutelage of Martin Schuring. She is currently continuing her studies at ASU, pursuing a DMA in oboe performance.
Charlotte will be the principal oboist in the Musica Nova Orchestra for the 2018-19 season. She has performed internationally in several settings, including the Madeline Island Chamber Music Camp in Madeline Island, Wisconsin; Orfeo Music Festival in Vipiteno, Italy; and on tour with the Brigham Young University Wind Symphony in Mongolia, South Korea, and Japan. She has also participated in English horn master classes with Carolyn Hove (Los Angeles Philharmonic) and Pedro Diaz (Metropolitan Opera Orchestra).
Charlotte is fortunate to teach oboe students throughout the Phoenix area. She has taught players of various skill levels, from beginner to college-level. She enjoys teaching chamber music as well, having taught a 1-semester chamber music program for band students at a local high school through ASU’s Music Corps grant. She is always enthusiastic to welcome new students into her studio.
