Performing Groups

The Desert Ridge High School Band Program offers many great opportunities for students to explore and develop their musical and performing talents.

 

Concert Band

Grade 9, 10, 11, 12 2 Semesters (1st & 2nd) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Placement by audition. Study of standard concert band literature –
performance experiences.
Course may be repeated for credit but not for a grade.

 

 

Symphonic Band

Grade 9, 10, 11, 12 2 Semesters (1st & 2nd) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Placement by audition. Study of standard and moderately advanced concert band literature – performance experiences.
Course may be repeated for credit but not for a grade.

 

 

Wind Ensemble

Grade 9, 10, 11, 12 2 Semesters (1st & 2nd) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Placement by audition. Study of moderate and advanced concert band literature – performance experiences.
Course may be repeated for credit but not for a grade.

 

 

Varsity Marching Band

Grade 9, 10, 11, 12 1 Semester (1st ) 1/2 Credit
Prerequisite: Teacher approval. Study of contemporary marching band styles-performance experiences.

 

 

Jazz Band

Grade 9, 10, 11, 12 1 Semester (2nd) 1/2 Credit
Prerequisite: Placement by audition. Concurrent enrollment in another music class and teacher approval. Study of standard contemporary/traditional jazz styles – performance experiences.
